Come by the Rockland Stone Symposium at 5pm, Thursday July 17th to learn about the cutting-edge building techniques Symposium Artists Kevin Percevault and Jim Larson are exploring in shaping eco-conscious architecture. Post-tensioning (done by drilling holes through blocks of stone, running cables through them, and then tightening everything down), provides superior load-bearing strength plus all of the long-lasting benefits that come with using stone.
The evening will include a demonstration where the Symposium artists test the limits of tensioned stone examples built on-site at Snow Marine park, followed by a conversation next door at the Sail, Power, & Steam museum about how to implement these techniques in the building arts. This event is free and open to the public.
DEMONSTRATION: 5-5:30pm at Snow Marine Park, Rockland ME 04841
CONVERSATION: 6-7pm at Sail, Power, & Steam Museum, 75 Mechanic Street, Rockland ME 04841
