EDUCATION

The Maine Stone Workers Education Fund (501c3) exclusively supports professional education in the art and craft of stone working as practiced in the State of Maine.

The Maine Stone Workers Guild Education Fund is a 501C3 tax exempt fund directly affiliated with the Maine Stone Workers Guild (a 501C6 Business Association). The MSWG Education Fund exclusively supports professional education in the art and craft of stone working as practiced in the State of Maine. Educational activities may include, but are not limited to, apprenticeships, internships, scholarships, mentoring programs as well as public demonstrations, lectures and exhibitions. Funding generated through private donations and grants is held separately and exclusively from MSWG accounts.

Established in 2012 with initial funding from the estate of renowned Maine sculptor Don Justin Meserve, the Education Fund honors his vision to perpetuate and enrich the legacy of Maine stone work. Our first internships led by professional members Jesse Salisbury and Mark Herrington are underway this spring. We plan to promote and expand additional educational programs: tax exempt donations are welcomed, as are any suggestions for programming.

The Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium is an artist in residency program that gives sculptors from Maine and around the world the chance to focus on a single piece of public art created in Maine granite.

For additional information and inquiries, contact Obie Buell, Education Fund Director, at (207) 664-9951 or any of our Guild members.

PLEASE NOTE: Donors who contribute $250 and above will receive a written letter from the Education Fund acknowledging a charitable donation for tax returns purposes. Checks can be made out to “Maine Stone Workers Guild Education Fund” and sent to 4 Farnham Point Road, East Boothbay, ME 04544. Donations can also be made at online through the MSWGEF Paypal Page. Thank you for your consideration .
